Lucinda Kasser
Oil Paints
I am enchanted by how light reveals form and creates mood. I find beauty in ordinary, everyday scenes and objects and hope to depict them in a way that the viewer recognizes them and enjoys their simple beauty.
I have enjoyed making art all my life. My mother was an accomplished painter so it was natural for her to put art materials in my hands. I majored in art in college with a focus on painting, in graduate school my focus was in art education. After graduate school I began teaching at the University of the Pacific in Stockton. Roughly, my assignment was seventy percent Teaching and Service and thirty percent Research and Creativity. I was able to keep regular studio hours and participate in regional and national exhibitions. My most notable artistic accomplishments are collaborating with Daniel Kasser in the creation of the 30 foot painting for the lobby of the Lodi Memorial Hospital and being one of fifty selected artists for “From Sea to Shining Sea,” a project that resulted in exhibitions in ten museums across the country. Since my retirement in 2019, I have enjoyed devoting even more time to painting outdoors and in the studio.
